TTPP48: Achieving Senior In-House Roles with Kate Rothwell, Head of Tax at AO

In this episode, I’m joined by Kate Rothwell, in-house Head of Tax at AO.

Kate started off her career at Grant Thornton before moving to industry in 2010, where she’s stayed ever since.

Kate’s journey to this point is somewhat unorthodox, and she’s a prime example that you can achieve what you want out of your career by being true to yourself and sticking by your values. She’s also a great example of how to have kids and a successful tax career.

Outside of her employment she supports the CIOT’s Manchester Branch committee and the Women in Tax’s Manchester branch group. She’s incredibly passionate about supporting women in tax and is a big advocate for raising awareness around the menopause to improve work for women who are at this point in their lives.

Kate describes herself as a shy person and this is something she’s had to manage throughout her career – and she’s done it with success. You will hear in the episode how she’s done this.

Take a listen for more!
