TTPP55: How to Research a Tax Technical Query

Back in June of this year, I did a webinar with the ATT and CIOT New Tax Professionals Committee, which is aimed at helping students or members of ATT or CIOT who are in the first ten years of their career.

This webinar was centred around doing tax research. There were two speakers: me and Dilpreet Dhanoa, a barrister for Field Court Tax Chambers. And the webinar was hosted by Toyin Oyeneyin and Makaya White of the committee.

My slot on the webinar was about 30 mins, and I covered how to research a tax technical query. We had good feedback on the webinar, so I thought it would be a good idea to share my section in this episode.

When preparing for the event, I had so much I wanted to say about how to do tax research that I actually found it really difficult to decide what to include and what to omit. I had to leave out a lot of what I wanted to say.

I believe being able to do tax research is an important career skill, but I also know that a lot of people find it daunting. So I do hope you find this episode useful!
