TTPP71: How to Move Out of Tax with Success if Tax Isn’t for You, with Tony Stevenson

Tax isn’t for everyone and Tony is one of those people.

Tony Stevenson started working in tax straight after university, working in corporation tax at Deloitte.

Early on, Tony decided that tax wasn’t a good fit for him, but he was convinced to stick it out, to get his professional qualification and experience at Deloitte, for the good of his CV.

But he ended up staying in tax for 9 years, even though he’d often tell people how much he disliked working in tax.

The problem was that Tony knew what he didn’t want but he didn’t know what he actually wanted. He never realised that though until a particular experience that he shares in this episode.

He also couldn’t afford to take a huge cut in pay, and as you’ll hear, his move out of tax actually resulted in a pay rise – as he leveraged his knowledge and experience. He shares what I think is an excellent piece of advice, which will allow you to do the same.

Hear Tony’s story and advice, by listening to this episode. You can listen at the top of this page!
